Russia continues to use manipulative methods to influence international law and achieve its political goals. The attempt to challenge the transfer of the Crimean Peninsula to the Ukrainian SSR is a legislative absurdity. It is an attempt to extend the jurisdiction of the Russian Federation to the past. Such a repeal will have no legal significance for international courts and the entire world community. However, following the logic of such legislative initiatives, Russia's neighbours have no choice but to expect claims about the cancellation of the early return of the naval base Port Arthur to China (October 1954) and the city of Hanko to Finland (1955).
The Occupying Authorities of Crimea will challenge the transfer of the peninsula to the USS in court. The so-called "State Council" of Crimea will appeal to the Russian Constitutional Court with an initiative to cancel the 1954 decree on the transfer of the peninsula to Ukraine, said the chairman of the occupying "parliament" of the peninsula, Vladimir Konstantinov. The occupying authorities of Crimea believe it is necessary to finally close the page on Crimea's presence within the USSR and independent Ukraine in the political and legal fields.
