The state's control over the judicial system continues to strengthen in the Russian Federation. There is no doubt about the political motivation behind the court's decision to extend the arrest of Igor Strelkov (Girkin). Strelkov has chosen the tactic of public confrontation with Kremlin, hoping to attract more supporters among those dissatisfied with the Kremlin’s military failures. However, despite this, such a tactic has proven to be less productive due to the limited support for radical ideas in a totalitarian society.

The court has extended the arrest of Igor Strelkov for three months. The Meshchansky Court of Moscow, at the request of the investigation, extended the period of detention for one of the former leaders of pro-Russian formations in Donbas, Igor Strelkov (Girkin), in connection with the case of incitement to extremist activities. By the court's decision, the term of detention for Girkin has been extended until December 18, 2023.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Russian opposition figures may be included to the multilateral exchange of prisoners between the West and Russia.
