Top 5 surnames in the Russian media for a week (June 12-18, 2023)

The top three in the chart of most mentioned individuals in Russian media remained unchanged compared to the previous week. Vladimir Putin traditionally took the first place, having significantly increased his media presence due to meeting with journalists and attending the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. The antipode of Russian power, Volodymyr Zelensky, took the second position. At the same time, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin with the onset of an active election campaign is in the third place. The fourth place takes in Alexander Lukashenko, mostly because of his resonant statements during an interview with Russian propagandist Skabeeva. US President Joe Biden pushed Kremlin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov out of the top 5. The fact that three of the five most cited individuals are not of Russian nationality makes it clear that Russian media has shifted its focus towards international politics.

The information space was analysed using a refined methodology based on monitoring 3200 Russian websites, telegram channels, YouTube channels, and significant accounts on VKontakte, Instagram and Facebook.
