The Kremlin officially announced the visit of Xi Jinping

Xi Jinping is set to visit Russia from March 20 to 22 at the invitation of Putin. It is reported that during the negotiations with the leader of China, issues of developing comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction between Russia and China will be discussed, the Kremlin informed. A number of bilateral documents are expected to be signed.

For an internationally isolated Russia, the visit by the leader of the second largest economy in the world has a symbolic meaning. To the world community it is publicly presented a formation of strategic alliance between Russia and China. Moscow will do everything possible to create an illusion of support from Beijing. In turn, China’s interests are much broader – for strengthening its international authority it will play role of a distant peacemaker. It was stated by country’s Foreign Affairs Office: “Beijing will abide by an objective position towards Ukrainian crisis and play a constructive role in advancing negotiations”.
